The induced field opposes the change
An induced current produces its own magnetic field. This field opposes the change that caused the current. If a north pole approaches a closed coil, the near end of the coil becomes a north pole and repels the approaching magnet. If that north pole moves away, the coil near end becomes a south pole and attracts it, opposing its departure.
