Contact and non-contact forces

Key ideas1 of 3

Forces are interactions

A force is a push or pull caused by an interaction between objects. The two objects exert forces on each other. Force is a vector, measured in newtons, N. A force may change an object’s motion or shape; it does not have to make a stationary object start moving.
