A field is a region of magnetic force
A magnetic field is the region around a magnet where another magnet or magnetic material experiences a force. Field lines represent its pattern. Outside a bar magnet, arrows run from north to south. Lines do not cross: the field has one direction at each point. Closer lines represent a stronger field. The field is strongest near the poles and becomes weaker further from the magnet.
