Finite and renewable resources

Key ideas1 of 3

What is a resource?

We use resources from Earth, the oceans and the atmosphere for food, water, energy and materials. Natural products can be supplemented or replaced by agricultural and synthetic products. For example, cotton is grown; polyester is made by chemical processes. Choose a material for its properties and purpose.

A resource replenished at its rate of use beside a deposit that becomes smaller as material is removed.
