More than one plant hormone
Auxin is not the only plant hormone. Gibberellins are important in initiating seed germination, when a dormant seed begins to grow under suitable conditions. A hormone helps coordinate the response; it does not replace the water, oxygen and suitable temperature needed for germination. When interpreting an experiment, compare treated seeds with a control kept under the same environmental conditions.
